Chuck's Locomotive
Home Up

Chuck Hackett's version of 844 was built by Dennis Riches (British Columbia Society of Model Engineers) and finished in 1969.

During the winter of 1999 Chuck completely disassembled the engine and tender except for the locomotive frame, drivers and cylinders.  All paint was stripped and a new coat of Imron applied.

A previous owner had extensively modified the tender to hold a large air reservoir for the engine brakes.  This had necessitated having the engineer ride with his feet outside the tender on motorcycle pegs.  During this overhaul Chuck did lots of sheet metal work to restore the tender to the way Dennis had it configured with the engineer's feet inside.
